What is diabetes?

Diabetes happens when the body can’t use insulin properly or it can’t make enough insulin. Glucose builds up in the bloodstream, causing high blood glucose levels. There are three main types of diabetes. Each type occurs for a different reason. No type of diabetes is worse than any other. All three types of diabetes result in high blood glucose levels.
